Meet Joseph Gody

Joseph Godfrey is an African realistic art painter who excels in the use of both acrylic and oil color configurations. He was born and grew up in the foothills of Meru & Kilimanjaro mountains, Arusha-Tanzania, and has spent over 10 years painting. His art is extremely loved by tourists from Canada, U.S , and Europe (Germany, France and England).

Joseph’s practice is inspired by both the magic of his native land and its majestic animals from a very young age. Sourcing tremendous inspiration from within, he dives into a realistic world, articulating the beauty of Africa with undulating mastery of colors, shapes and patterns to each new painting.

Joseph previously worked for Arusha Declaration Museum from 2010 - 2011, Natural History Museum from 2015 - 2017 and later exhibited in Alliance Francoise in 2022, and Fun Retreat in 2018. He is currently doing his Art mostly at home and sometimes at Swahili Art (Themi living Garden), Arusha-Tanzania. His art can be seen in US Exhibits like The Brand Stand STL, in Tanzania, Arusha at the Culture Heritage Centre, and online through Instagram and Facebook.

Joseph is highly active in his community. He and other four artists have managed to form “Swahili Art Group” which seeks to connect young artists. Additionally, Joseph devotes more than 4 hours a week to sustainability efforts to his community, including painting classes for youths (mostly at Themi Living Garden) and heading cleanup at local parks.
